BEST TIME TO TRAVEL
The best time to travel in Nepal is in spring (February to May) and autumn (September to November). The temperature is moderate in these seasons and guarantees amazing views through the trip. Although this trek can be undertaken during winter, the cold temperature might not be suitable for everyone.
GUIDE & STAFF ARRANGEMENT
The most significant thing that makes this trek enjoyable and memorable is the skilled, experienced and helpful Guide and crew member who have the ability of guiding our trek on the mountain smoothly. Our trip will be led by the best and most professional Guide. All of Discovery Mountain Trekking Guide’s are carefully selected on the basis of their appropriate experience, skills and personal aptitude. With an objective of sustaining local communities, Discovery Mountain Trek only employs local Staff, who have knowledge about culture, ecosystem, flora, fauna, geography, and history of their local region.
We are firmly committed to porter rights. We make sure that all our porters are well treated, well paid and we provide the level of shelter, clothing and footwear that these harsh environments demand. Porters who become sick are treated with the same care and attention as other team members and we have previously used helicopters – at our expense – to rescue porters from dangerous situations. We support the work of the International Porter Protection Group (IPPG), making our resources available to them to help improve the working conditions of the porters. International Porters Progress Group.
Nepal is stunningly beautiful, but equally fragile in the mountain region. Future generations have just as much of a right to appreciate it as much as we do. Therefore, we believe that the tourism industry has an obligation to protect and preserve it. Discovery Mountain Trek employs a ‘zero impact’ policy on the natural environment and the traditional communities that live there. Discovery Mountain Trek, therefore, enforces a number of do and don’t. Please talk to your trek Guide to avoid environmental impacts.
It is a condition upon joining any of Discovery Mountain Trek trips that all clients be insured for comprehensive expenses that might incur due to medical issues or accidents (this includes air ambulance, helicopter rescue, and treatment costs). Please note that we don’t arrange or sell insurance.
This trek’s itinerary is planned with a high degree of awareness of AMS (Acute Mountain Sickness). Going up at higher altitudes too fast causes a medical condition serious enough to result in death. The higher the altitude, the less oxygen will be in the air. For example, at an altitude above of 5000m, there is 50% less oxygen than at sea level. Therefore, our body needs many days to adapt to an environment with less oxygen. During this trip, one day we take rest in somewhere which will help us acclimatize to the high altitude.

We start our journey into the hills on a winding road along the Trishuli River. On the way we admire terraced farms and beautiful huts. After reaching a juncture at Mugling, we move straight ahead towards Pokhara. At Dumre, we leave the previous trail and head north to Besisahar. A half-an-hour’s drive from Besisahar takes us to Khudi offers us a first glimpse of the gorgeous Manaslu range and countinue drive to Jagat.
After breakfast, we slowly begin our trek today. The trail from Jagat descends until it reaches the river and then continues through a lush forest. Further ascent leads to sharp-edged cliff facing the riverbank. En route, Chyamje comes into picture amidst the glorious backdrop of towering Annapurna mountain ranges. After crossing a suspension bridge, we climb steeply towards the slippery and physically challenging path to Sattale. On treading along a succession of rock-strewn trails, we descend to a grassy riverbank that leads to Tal. As we walk away from Tal, the path becomes rugged and winding. Then we approach steeply-forested village of Karte. Meandering along the waterfalls and cliffs, we finally reach Dharapani after crossing a suspension bridge.
Today we walk through a few forested ridges on our way to Chame, which is the headquarters of the Manang District. Throughout the trek we can admire amazing views of the Himalayas including Lamjung Himal, Annapurna II, and Annapurna IV. On today’s trek you also come across small hot springs where you can dip in and soothe our aching muscles.
A steep and narrow path through a very dense forest will bring you to the dramatic curved rock face, rising 1500m from the river. This is probably the steepest part of the Marshyangdi Valley, so steep that the trail is carved into the vertical rock. After passing this last bit of rock, the valley opens up with majestic vistas. And right where the valley widens stands the Paungda Danda, a massive sloping rock face that rises over (1500m) above the trail. You trek for a while before reaching Lower Pisang where we spend the night.
Today you follow the trail that takes to Upper Pisang via Ngawal. This trail guarantees excellent views of the beautiful landscape and the mighty mountains including Annapurna and Pisang. You begin to notice a contrast in the landscape and vegetation from today. The cold and dry climate also creates a much harsher environment.
We start our trek after breakfast to chulu east base camp. We move along the trail through vertical pastures to a suitable hollow where the field combines into rock. Then, we reach at the Chulu East base camp. Here we can witness, fabulous views of Annapurna range extends as distant as our eyes can see.
We today ascend to the high camp and the track up to the high camp follows snow slopes. As we continue climbing, more than a few peaks come to our view on the way. After we mount to the summit of Chulu East and feel the glory of victory, and the view offers Annapurna II, III, IV, Lamjung Himal, Manaslu, Himalchuli, Peak 29, Pisang Peak, Chulu west, Tilicho Peak and many more… we will descend all along the vertical slopes to the high camp, then continue retrace back to the base camp.
This is a separate day reserved for any contingency. If we are not able to summit the Chulu East Peak on the day as planned due to bad weather or any unforeseen event, this day can be use.
We start to decent around 1 hour until Khang la base camp and gradual up and down to Ngawal , We walk into pine forest with good views of Annapurna range, And passing through Gyaru village where we will having our lunch then continue decent to Pisang.
A gradual up and down and narrow path through pine forest passing through Dukur Pokhari village and continue trek ans pass on the suspension brige on Marsyangdi river so the trail is carved into the vertical rock, And we pass through Bratang Village(Apple garden) and very dense forest to chame.
